1. Overview
Great Honk is a local-first vehicle organization app for iPhone. The current app does not require a Great Honk account and does not send vehicle records to a Great Honk-operated application server. The website can receive contact messages, which means it would be inaccurate to say that Great Honk collects no information at all.
2. Information stored in the iOS app
You may choose to store vehicle identifiers, mileage, expenses, fuel or charging records, maintenance, repairs, trips, documents, receipts, photos or videos, parts inventory, reminders, driver-profile details, notes, and manually recorded trip locations. This can include sensitive details such as a VIN, license plate, insurance information, license information, purchase prices, or location samples.
3. Local device and iCloud-related storage
The app is designed to store its data on your device using Apple platform storage. Signed builds may attempt to use a private CloudKit database for optional synchronization through your iCloud account and fall back to local storage when that configuration is unavailable. The app remains useful without signing in to iCloud or connecting to the internet.
Data in iCloud is subject to your Apple account settings and Apple’s services and policies. Great Honk does not claim that Apple can never access iCloud data, that synchronization is instantaneous, or that iCloud is a guaranteed backup.
4. Information Great Honk does not intentionally collect from the app
The current app has no Great Honk account registration, advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, tracking SDK, or Great Honk API server receiving vehicle records. It does not intentionally sell vehicle records or create an advertising profile. Documents are processed with Apple frameworks on the device rather than sent to an external OCR service. Location updates begin only for a trip you start and stop when that trip ends.
5. Website contact-form information
If you use the website contact form, Great Honk receives the name, email address, subject, optional reason, message, source page, user-agent string, and basic request information you provide or your browser transmits. This information is used to review and respond to your message, manage support, prevent abuse, and maintain the form. It is not used to enroll you in a marketing mailing list.
6. Supabase as a website service provider
The website uses Supabase to receive and store deliberately submitted contact messages. Supabase processes this website information as a service provider. Contact submissions are separate from records stored in the Great Honk iOS app and are not connected to your vehicle data.
7. Server logs and basic technical information
The website host, Supabase, and network providers may process customary technical information such as IP address, timestamps, request paths, browser or device information, and security logs to deliver and protect their services. Great Honk does not use these logs to build an advertising profile.
8. Cookies
The public website does not intentionally set advertising cookies or require a visitor account. Hosting and security providers may use essential technical storage when needed to deliver or protect their services. If optional cookies are added later, this policy and any appropriate notice will be updated.
9. Analytics
No third-party product analytics is configured in the current app or website. If analytics is added later, Great Honk will disclose the provider, purpose, and available choices before treating it as part of this policy.
10. Donations and external payment processors
Contribution links are not currently active. A future donation or sponsorship link may open an external provider such as Stripe, PayPal, Ko-fi, or GitHub Sponsors. That provider would receive information needed to process the payment under its own privacy policy. Great Honk should not receive full payment-card details when a hosted payment link is used.
11. Data sharing
Great Honk does not sell contact submissions or app vehicle records. Website information may be shared with service providers that host or secure the site and contact database, when you ask us to share it, when reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety, or when required by law. App records may move through Apple’s private iCloud infrastructure when you enable and configure synchronization.
12. Data retention
Website contact messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain support history, prevent abuse, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. You control app records through in-app deletion and device or iCloud settings. Honk Heaven is a non-destructive vehicle status; a separate warned action permanently deletes a vehicle and its related app data. Deletions may synchronize to other devices when CloudKit is active.
13. Security
Great Honk uses reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the site and app, including the iOS app sandbox, private CloudKit storage when enabled, validation on the contact endpoint, and restricted database access for contact submissions. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, and Great Honk does not claim a separate custom encryption layer or security certification.
14. Your choices
You can use core app features without a Great Honk account, choose whether to use optional iCloud features, stop a manually recorded trip, manage permissions in iOS Settings, delete individual records, delete app data, or export supported records and archives. Archive import is not yet available. To ask about or request deletion of a website contact message, email support@greathonk.com. Verification may be required before acting on a request.
15. Children’s privacy
Great Honk is a general vehicle utility and is not directed to children under 13. The website does not knowingly seek personal information from children. If you believe a child submitted information through the contact form, contact Great Honk so the situation can be reviewed.
16. International visitors
If you visit from outside the country where Great Honk’s operator and providers are located, website contact information may be processed in other countries with different data-protection laws. By submitting the form, you understand that the information will be processed as described here. This statement is not a claim of certification under any specific privacy framework.
17. Changes to this policy
This policy may change as Great Honk, its website, or its service providers evolve. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date and, when appropriate, a more prominent notice.
